Kia ora OVS whanau and Caregivers,
Rick is away this week attending the annual Tai Tokerau Principals’ Association Conference, so ’tis I, ‘Official Office-her Jen’, who will be your host for this quick newsletter.
A MASSIVE…
To all the sensational parents who volunteered to transport our students to and from their camps (perhaps enduring some “interesting” in-car entertainment along the way) and of course staying at camp to help out wherever they were needed!
To our incredible PTA for their fundraising achievements and generously contributing towards the cost of all the camps!
To our phenomenal staff who had put so much hard work into planning and organising these camps during their busy schedules to offer your tamariki the best school camp experience possible!
To our awesome students who gave everything a go and perhaps faced and triumphed over some challenges. From what I hear, students were absolutely fantastic and certainly had loads of fun!
Righto, I hear the photocopier calling me, better get back to it 😀

Easter Tuesday (School holiday only)
Just a reminder that school will be closed on Tuesday 2nd April.
According to the Ministry of Education’s website, it states…
“The Tuesday following Easter Monday is a school holiday (but not a statutory holiday), meaning schools must not be open.
The terms and holidays are usually set so that Easter occurs during the first term break and the Easter Tuesday school holiday goes unnoticed. However, in some years Easter falls much earlier than usual such as in 1997, 2005, 2008, 2013, 2016, 2021 and 2024.
To have the first 2-week break at Easter in those years would shorten the first term to only 8 or 9 weeks (instead of around 12 weeks). In turn, this would mean that at least 1 of the other 3 terms would have to be longer.
The Minister aims to set 4 terms of reasonably uniform length. This means that in years when Easter falls particularly early, all or some of the Easter break will be during the first term”.
