The MOE recommendation to schools in Te Tai Tokerau is that if there is any doubt about the Health and Safety of your staff and children, getting to and from school tomorrow, that you close. The weather has now been upgraded to red.
Otaika Valley School will therefore be closed tomorrow, Monday 13th Feb due to the high likelihood that access roads to our school will be prone to flooding, along with a coinciding 2.pm high tide.
We are communicating this as early as practicable to allow whanau to make any necessary arrangements and we also recognise the importance of communicating before power outages take effect.
We will continue to monitor the situation overnight and communicate again with you tomorrow at 12.30pm regarding the likelihood of opening on Tuesday.
