SH1 Loop Road – construction update 3 Sept

Asphalting and traffic switch confirmed for Tuesday

Night works pencilled in for tomorrow night (Thursday) will now occur on Tuesday 8 September.

Pavement crews will move in after the morning commuter peak to complete the asphalting works on SH15. We then need to remove the guardrail and plastic barriers on the southern side of the roundabout to allow SH15 to shift across onto the new pavement on Tuesday night.

The traffic switch to create the temporary intersection at Loop Road will occur during the night of Tuesday 8 September. The nightworks will include moving safety barriers to the new road layout prior to shifting traffic onto the new section of road.

The ‘T’ intersection will move eastwards and Loop Road/SH15 vehicles will be shifted across onto the new section of Loop Road. The temporary traffic layout for Loop Road is shown in the shaded green line in the graphic below.

This intersection layout will remain in place for approximately two weeks until the SH1 tie-in work is complete and all traffic will move onto the new roundabout.

There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/hr at the Loop Road intersection during the day on Tuesday as our crew work close to live traffic lanes removing the guardrail alongside the roundabout.

During night works on Tuesday, there will also be a temporary speed limit of 30km/hr, with periods of stop/go traffic management on both SH15 and SH1 at Loop Road.
